Tavistock Cup expands again, now a 6-team event

The Tavistock Cup is in expansion mode again, announcing Tuesday that next year’s edition will grow to a six-team clash that could bring such names as Rickie Fowler and Bill Haas into the competition.

Oak Tree National in Edmond, Okla., and Primland, located in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, join the Tavistock roster when the 10th edition tees off March 25-26 at Isleworth. Lake Nona has won the past four titles.

“It’s an evolving process,” tournament director Andy Odenbach said. “We’re trying to keep things interesting, keep things new, keep things relevant.”

The move comes just two years after Bahamas club Albany and England’s Queenwood Golf Club joined the contest, moving the scope away from its original Lake Nona-vs.-Isleworth rivalry.
