Alert: Sexual predator moves to Narcoossee

A previously homeless sexual predator is now living near Narcoossee, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office advised.
Leland P. Mileham, 27, recently moved to 4815 Lillian Black Road.

Mileham, convicted of sexual battery on a victim under the age of 12 in 2001, previously was living in a field near Osceola Regional Medical Center in Kissimmee.

Mileham is a 6-foot white male, weighing about 175 pounds with brown hair and eyes.

The Sheriff’s Office is in the process of notifying all licensed daycare centers and schools within one mile of his new address.

Narcoossee Teen Dies After Being Stabbed At House Party

A deadly fight broke out between two teenagers during a house party in Osceola County early Saturday morning. Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies say a large party got out of hand on Boston Avenue.

Investigators say 16-year-old Adam Herring, a Harmony High School student, stabbed 17-year-old Chandler Clark to death.

“It’s giving me chills talking about it,” said neighbor Kyle Saley. He ran up to the boy and saw him bleeding on the ground after the stabbing. “Somebody just got murdered right there in front of me, it’s just nerve racking.”

Herring told detectives Clark approached him at the party and attempted to punch him, while Herring was opening a can of tobacco with a knife. Herring began fighting back and during the altercation Clark was stabbed multiple times.

Narcoossee Elementary Teacher Among Those Honored

Teachers from Orange, Seminole and Lake county school systems are among 36 math and science instructors from across the center of the state that were honored in the third annual PRISM teacher award banquet.

Some teachers from Osceola, Volusia and Brevard are getting applause, too, along with some from Marion, Hillsborough and Polk counties.

The event at Sea World’s Ports of Call recognizes teachers who inspire and motivate their students in math and science.

Narcoossee’s winner was Michelle Thompson from Narcoossee Elementary School.

Osceola will spend $200 million improving roads – Including Narcoossee Rd

Osceola County will spend more than $200 million to improve roads starting this summer in the hope of stimulating the county’s economy.

The road projects, which County Manager Michael Freilinger is calling a “local stimulus package,” include:

Widening Narcoossee and Boggy Creek roads, which connect Osceola with the emerging “medical city” at Lake Nona, from two to four lanes.
Widening Osceola Parkway from four to six lanes from Florida’s Turnpike to Buenaventura Boulevard. The parkway connects the Kissimmee area with the Disney theme parks.
Building a flyover for John Young Parkway at Osceola Parkway.
Widening Old Lake Wilson and Goodman roads.
Widening a portion of Poinciana Boulevard.

Construction is to begin this year, and completion is expected within 18 months.

About $100 million will come from bonds the county has issued. Another $85 million will come from development impact fees, and the rest will come from general funds.

The idea is that spending money on roads will put more people to work and benefit local businesses. Still, county officials had to postpone more than $500 million worth of other road projects because of economic conditions. The projects chosen are those that county commissioners deem critical for economic development.

“We need to do these roads or we’re going to be behind,” Commissioner Ken Smith said Monday. “There are tremendous opportunities in this area.”

Commission Chairman John Quinones called it “a situation in which the glass is half full. Yes, there are some projects that will be delayed. But I don’t think there’s ever been a situation in which we have spent this kind of money in roads. I don’t think there’s any other region that is doing this kind of work.”

Some of the road contracts will go out for bids right away, Freilinger said.

Narcoossee – Girl, 12, Dead After 14-Year-Old Driver Crashes Car

ST. CLOUD — A 12-year-old girl is dead in Osceola County after a crash involving a 14-year-old behind the wheel.

State troopers told News 13 a car driven by Allison Sullivan, 14, was headed north of Absher Road around 10:45 p.m. Saturday, when for some unknown reason, she spun the car into a culvert.

The car went airborne and flipped, throwing passengers out of the right front and left rear doors of the car.

The vehicle came to rest in a wooded area.

Shauna O’Rourke, 12, of St. Cloud, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and three other people in the car — a 25-year-old man, a 3-year-old boy and another 14-year-old girl, all from St. Cloud — were hospitalized with injuries.

The man’s injuries were said to be serious, while the three others were said to have minor injuries.

Shauna and the 25-year-old man were the only ones in the car not wearing a seat belt.

Troopers said charges are pending in the accident.

Free Paintball In A Pinched Economy!

Ken “SKUBA” Heinly, a local Narcoossee, FL man with a passion for paintball, or more specifically, “woodsball”, has created a free place on his personal property to play this extreme sport. Owning several acres of forest he runs games about every two weeks.

This backwoods area is called “The Swamp”. It’s not so much that the area is a swamp as it’s a dense subtropical jungle. The people that show up are passionate the sport of paintball and commonly introduce their friends to it at The Swamp.

There are strict safety rules one must follow to play this group of enthusiasts. One such rule is that every paintball marker that is taken on the field is to be “chrono-ed”. This is a test uses a device that measures the speed of the paintball in order to keep it below 280 feet per second, an industry safety standard. Also, the wearing of paintball safety goggles is strictly enforced as well as ensuring marker barrels are covered until on the field of play.

The Swamp has winding trails, forts, hidden hideaways, and tree stands. The players typically divide on two teams. They will commonly play a team elimination game where the team with the last man standing wins. Sometimes they play a capture-the-flag game where the team who gets the other teams flag safely back to base wins.

If you are in the Central Florida area, the Narcoossee Swamp Soldiers beckon you to join them one Saturday morning. The best part is that you won’t have to bring your own gun, compressed air, or even paintballs. They all enthusiastically chip in and help each other and especially newcomers to the sport. Women file complaint about car chase involving George and Cindy Anthony

Orange County investigators are looking into a complaint filed by two St. Cloud women who say they were chased by George and Cindy Anthony after the women caught Cindy removing a cross from the former makeshift Caylee memorial site.

Lois Peter, 56, said she went to the site on Suburban Drive on Monday night with her 13-year-old granddaughter and two adult friends to leave a cross and see if anyone would take it.

They arrived about 8:30 p.m. and watched the site from their car. That’s when they noticed Dennis Milstead of Kid Finders Network, and friend of the Anthonys, driving up and down Suburban Drive.

They moved their car and Milstead followed them, Peter said. They left the neighborhood and Milstead, who was with his wife, did not follow.
